Specialized Safety Training for Construction

At one time the 10 Hour OSHA Course for construction was considered a lot of safety training for construction workers.  This course has become a standard for safety training.  However, today it is not enough.  Specialized safety training has also become very important in complying with the overall safety requirements today.

One example of would be meeting OSHA regulations of “Competent Person Training” Areas where “competent person” is required is forklift training for operators, scaffolding excavation, hazard communication, fall protection, electrical safety, rigging and hoisting, and many other specified training fields.  OSHA considers the controlling contractor, general contractor and/or construction manager to be responsible for the overall safety on the jobsite.  The controlling contractor may not have to conduct all safety procedures, but must make sure that safety is being practiced with all contractors on the jobsite.  The controlling contractor will need specialized safety training so they can ensure the other contractors safety performance.

Keep in mind, with a slowdown in construction work, OSHA has not backed off on enforcement.  If anything, OSHA enforcement and high penalties have increased dramatically.  Do not let your guard down.  You still must have a well-trained workforce specific to safety procedures.  Throughout the year, MBI brings specialized safety training courses to you.  Please review the upcoming training course schedule to meet your company’s training needs.
