**Plan Deposit Cards for MBI Members**

MBI plans deposit cards are one of the many advantages to being a Master Builders of Iowa member.

In lieu of sending a check for a refundable deposit, many Architects and Engineers accept “MBI Cards” as a non-cash security method for distribution of plans.

Only Master Builders of Iowa members in good standing will be issued plan deposit cards upon request.

The Iowa Chapter, American Institute of Architects endorses the Non-Cash Deposit Card Program for refundable deposits.

The rules are as follows:

  1. MBI guarantees the return of the plans and specs within the time set out in the specification.  If you, the plan holder, do not return the plans and specs within that time you run the risk of paying the deposit.  If MBI has to pay the deposit to the plan issuing authority, MBI will invoice your firm for the deposit amount.  That in essence is MBI’s guarantee to the plan issuing authority.
  2. If you, the plan holder, receive a contract on the project, please call the plan issuing authority and inform them you would like to keep the plans.
  3. Remember that this program is strictly voluntary on the part of the plan issuing authorityThey do not have to accept the deposit cards.

Call Carla Long at the MBI office (515.288.8904 or 800.362.2578) for additional information regarding plan deposit cards.
