New Essential Resource for Construction Education
The Career Connection section of MBI's website is the essential online resource for promoting career option and personal development opportunities in the construction industry. The graduates of the MBEYE on the Future class of 08/09 launched this resourceful website this past may with the vision for creating a hub for information on all the different career paths in construction for students, schools and parents, workers in other industries, and workers already in construction.
The structure of the Career Connection consists of six main divisions, each of which has many subdivisions. A brief summary of each of the sections and its possible uses are described below:
Learn the Construction World
This is the largest section of the site describing different job characteristics in the field and office operations. This section contains a career pathways section that will give the visitors ideas of the route you take from being a carpenter to becoming the CEO of a company. Students and academic advisors can request our construction professionals to your local high school or you can schedule a school visit to the construction sites as part of the extra curricular programs we support for students interested in our industry.
Construction Education
This section compiles the information of programs which will benefit high school and college students as well as industry employees who want to upgrade their credentials or who want to join the construction industry. It also contains mentorship opportunities for High School students, such as the ACE Mentor Program. It also includes information on MBI's education programs as well as construction related to High Schools, Colleges, and Apprenticeship Programs amongst others. The public will find that a career in the construction industry involves upgrading his or her knowledge while the ladder for professional advancing is at reach of everyone.
Leadership in Construction
Current industry players and outsiders who want to join leadership opportunities within our industry can find them in this section. This section offers opportunities to individuals and companies desiring to join the Master Builders of Iowa and become an important player of the construction industry. In addition, on this site you can nominate leaders within your company to be part of the MB "Eye" on the Future Class; a class that gathers 20 construction professionals in a 6 month leadership training program with the objective to recognize, enhance and refine the leadership of this and future generations of contractors. In addition, this section will permit professionals of the industry to volunteer in different task forces.
Construction Network
This section of the site permits students, workers, professionals, academic advisors and others interested in the construction industry the constant flow of mutual communication over the internet. In this site, visitors learn more about the Associate General Contractors Iowa Student Chapters and the different social activities organized in conjunction with the industry such as Tailgating days. Staying connected is the easiest way to meet professionals eager to tell you about career opportunities in our industry.
Multimedia
This section recreates and shares the experiences of the construction world though galleries portraying events involving workforce development and professional advancement. In addition, the videos in this section provide the public with entertaining information that assist in learning the construction industry from within.
Just as the rest of MBI's website, the Career Connections site is alive. In other words, the Career Connections site is constantly changing and welcomes all visitors to share information related to career building in the construction industry.
