Master Builders of Iowa

The Master Builders of Iowa is the recognized leader of the construction industry in the State of Iowa.  Founded in 1912, it is one of 100 chapters of the Associated General Contractors of America, the oldest, strongest, most influential and most widely respected construction associations in the country. The Association provides its members with a comprehensive array of educational, safety, environmental, labor, legal, legislative, public relations, and industry relations products and services. Education and Craftworker Training – MBI provides education and training products and services for its members’ employees at all levels of the construction business.
Safety and Environmental – MBI employs two full-time, highly qualified safety and environment professionals to service the safety and environmental requirements of its members.
Labor – MBI provides members with a full range of services to assist them in dealing with their workforce; collective bargaining, union relations, open shop.
Legal – MBI provides a comprehensive list of legal services to its members including:  public bidding, consultation and information on ERISA, liens and contractor liability, workers’ compensation, taxes, bonds, commercial arbitration, bidding and contract award disputes.
Legislative – MBI has earned the respect of Iowa’s state legislature as “The Voice of Iowa’s Construction Industry” and the industry’s leading authority on, and watchdog for, contractors’ interests.  MBI monitors all legislation that comes before the state legislature and explains to elected and appointed officials the impact that these proposals have on construction.
Information – “Knowledge is Power” and keeping members informed is one of MBI’s primary objectives.  MBI provides a number of information products that ensure its members are the best-informed contractors in the construction business
