CONVENTION & TRAVEL COMMITTEE LAUNCH BRAND NEW MBI SUMMER OUTING

The Convention and Travel Committee regretfully announces that the annual Summer Meeting held at Village West in Okoboji is being put on hold for 2010.  We have heard from numerous members that the current economy and the lack of improvements to the current facilities is deterring them from participating this year.  We’ve listened and you’ve been heard.

So . . . LET’S GO RACING!!!  And let’s not forget the annual GOLF outing with all the bragging rights that come with the coveted trophy.  Yes, we have created a way to beat the economy and still enjoy our summer outing where we can reconnect with friends and families.

MBI MEMBERSHIP BUSINESS MEETINGS HELD REGIONALLY AROUND THE STATE

COMING IN MAY TO A LOCATION NEAR YOU!

A membership survey pointed out the need to change course and refocus our Regional Meeting goals, content and delivery.  With the help of the strategic plan, we have developed a new “faster track” curriculum covering essential issues, challenges and solutions available for MBI members.  Our Regional Meetings are now in the second year of the new and improved format and the attendance numbers indicate we are hitting the target on increase attendance and improved feedback.  The value for the “guaranteed one hour limit, free lunch, and open member registration” is proving to be a very effective way to educate members about important industry issues, along with how MBI can be an essential resource for member companies.

Topics for the Spring 2010 tour include:  Lead-Safe Renovation Rules; OSHA Enforcement Activity; Increased Enforcement – Contractor Registration Compliance; Post Legislative Review; and a presentation on Health Care Plans.

Winter Conference and Freezer Classic, April 9th

For the third straight year, MBI is pleased to be hosting the Winter Conference and Freezer Classic.  In keeping with the tradition, the program will mix an educational element in the morning with an entertaining afternoon of winter golf.  In addition, proceeds from the program will benefit the MBI-PAC in this all important election year.

Business Strategies to the Construction Crisis

Iowa’s construction industry and market is in crisis.  Record levels of unemployment, market compression, falling prices and a host of other challenges face the industry in the foreseeable future.  Recognizing this and that our members are looking for critical information and solutions, the Convention and Travel Committee has developed a unique and appropriate convention program agenda to correspond with the times.   We hope you agree that the subjects are essential and necessary to help guide small, medium and large size firms through the maze of challenges that lie before our industry.
