The 4th year of the MBEye on the Future Program was comprised of 18 leaders. In addition to extensive leadership training and networking each class is asked to identify and implement a class project that will involve an industry or MBI improvement initiative. The 2007/2008 class decided to focus on raising funds for the MBI PAC and developed the Winter Conference and Freezer Classic.
Last February, nearly 100 of your construction colleagues participated in the inaugural Master Builders of Iowa’s Winter Conference and Freezer Classic. During the morning program, participants were provided expertise from a program focused on negotiating from strength. During the afternoon, strangely enough, participants were put to the test to negotiate 9 holes of golf with over a foot of snow on the ground. There is no question that all who participated took from the Winter Conference a better appreciation for the art of “negotiating”. We continued the tradition in 2009 with a morning program focused on the economy and how best to succeed in unsure times. The afternoon was a little different as there was no snow and the sun was out! Everyone had a chance to warm-up and get a head start on their golf game. Because of the creative thinking of this class we have raised over $25,000 for the MBI PAC!
