In order to file and preserve a mechanics’ lien, general contractors and subcontractors must meet the rigid and specific deadlines addressed in the statute.  It is important to understand that a general contractor may bring a mechanics’ lien action only if it has contracted with the owner of the property.  Subcontractors and material suppliers may or may not have certain notice requirements, depending on what tier they are.

Attendees of this Webinar will learn and discuss the designation between tiers of subcontractors, statutory requirements that must be followed and the documents and timeframes necessary to file and enforce a Mechanics' Lien.

This Webinar is intended to assist general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in their efforts to be paid for work completed on a given project.  Care must be taken to ensure that the appropriate documentation is filed within the specific timeframes allowed.  Otherwise, the claiming party may be left with only a breach of contract claim by which to seek recovery.
