The Construction Essentials program was developed by the MBI Education Committee in response to many member requests for more localized and more frequent training. By bringing training to you in your region we are able to provide essential educational programs, with little travel time, resulting in less time away from the job.The goal of this series is to help members and their employees find the information and resources that they need to be successful in these highly competitive times. The sessions are intended for a variety of attendees from field personnel to middle and upper management.

Who and what is subject to sales and use taxes, including who is responsible for collecting the sales tax or paying the use tax, e.g., who is the ultimate consumer, the differences between real and personal property, the taxation of repairs and repair services, and the taxation of intagibles such as warranties. Without an understanding of these concepts, a contractor may significantly under-bid construction projects or be subject to additional taxes, penalties and interest upon audit. The session will not only review basic general rules but discuss exceptions and special applications.
