Every year construction workers are seriously injured or killed in trench cave-ins. The best way to protect your workers from these catastrophes is to ensure you have the necessary training. OSHA requires a competent person onsite to determine the proper protective system and perform daily inspections. Knowledge of the Excavation Standard is one of the qualifications for being the Competent Person. This course is designed to familiarize the student with soil identification and testing, the general requirements of the standard, and the recognition of excavation hazards and how to select an appropriate protective system. The class is taught using real world examples that help the student apply the knowledge in a safe and reasonable fashion. The completion of this seminar provides safety awareness components for designating an individual as a “competent person.” Attendees completing the training will be tested and will receive a certificate of completion. Attendees will also receive a comprehensive manual.
