In order to make educated decisions about a future career in construction it is always helpful to understand the different opportunities ahead. This section of the Career Connections, maps the different career pathways in the construction industry, in the field and in the office. The opportunities and career horizons in the construction industry go beyond the descriptions and the diagrams we present here. However, in this section of the website we intend to give you an idea of common professional paths and the elements necessary to be successful climbing the ladder. In addition, this section explains the responsibilities and necessary qualifications in the different stages of your career. It shows that "to make it" in the construction industry, you could either join the trades right after college or go to college for a four-year degree.
